Convert between units, standard lots, mini lots and micro lots so the quantity entered in a trading platform matches the position you planned.
STEP-BY-STEP
How to use this tool
- Enter the quantity shown in your calculation or source platform.
- Select whether that number represents standard lots, mini lots, micro lots, or raw units.
- Confirm the instrument’s units per standard lot; do not assume every product uses 100,000.
- Enter the destination platform’s permitted unit increment.
- Review every equivalent quantity and the rounded-down platform value.
- Confirm the order preview before submitting a simulated trade.
WORKED EXAMPLE
See the calculation in context
With a 100,000-unit standard contract, 0.35 standard lots equals 35,000 units, 3.5 mini lots, or 35 micro lots.
Calculation method
Units = input quantity × the selected quantity factor. With a 100,000-unit standard contract, one mini lot is 10,000 units and one micro lot is 1,000 units. Platform units are rounded down to the increment entered.
AVOID THESE ERRORS
Common mistakes
- Assuming every platform uses the word lot the same way
- Applying forex contract sizes to futures, options, metals or CFDs
- Confusing a mini lot with a micro lot
- Rounding quantity upward
- Ignoring instrument-specific minimums and increments
- Copying a quantity without checking account currency or symbol specifications
FREQUENTLY ASKED
Questions and answers
Why can the contract size be changed?
The common 100,000-unit convention does not apply to every instrument or platform. The official specification should be entered.
Why round down?
Rounding upward can exceed the position and risk originally planned.
Can I use this for futures contracts?
Only if you deliberately redefine the contract and unit meaning. Futures are usually better handled with a contract-specific quantity tool.
